December 2, 1999: 16.30 hours
The Oath-Taking Ceremony and Trooping of the Colors of the Royal Guards held in honor of His Majesty the King's 6th Cycle
Birthday Anniversary occurs at the Royal Plaza.
December 5, 1999: 19.59 hours
The Ceremony to Celebrate the Auspicious Occasion of His Majesty the King's 6th Cycle Birthday Anniversary will be
held at Phra Mane Ground (Sanam Luang). Government officials and people in Bangkok will gather at the Sanam Luang
Ceremonial site, and those outside Bangkok at the designated places of each province, as is usually done every year.
They will light the candles to celebrate the Auspicious Occasion of His Majesty the King's Birthday.
December 9, 1999: 19.30 hours
The Grand Dinner and Reception given by the Government on the Auspicious Occasion of His Majesty the King's 6th
Cycle Birthday Anniversary will take place at the Government House.
The formal ceremony will be as follows:
- His Majesty the King proceeds to the Reception site at the Tuk Thai
Kufa front yard.
- The Prime Minister humbly presents his wishes.
- Thai traditional dancers perform a classical dance for His Majesty theKing's good fortune.
- A light and sound performance will be presented over a water screen.
- The Government humbly presents a token to His Majesty the King.
- The Royal Dinner
- Two thousand couples of Honored Guests, both foreign and Thai, will be invited to join in the Royal
Evening Reception. Approximately 200 members (100 couples) of Royal Family and Honored Guests will
be invited to attend dinner with His Majesty the King.
Other Celebrations
August 21, 1999: 20.00 hours
- Concert for Our King:
Chitralada School organized a special concert in
honor of His Majesty the King to commemorate
his 72nd birthday. The concert took place at
Thailand National Cultural Center, Bangkok, with
Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri
Sirindhorn serving as Chairman of the Organizing
Committee. It was special as Her Royal Highness
princess Ubolratana, the first child of Their
Majesties the King and Queen, graciously granted
permission for her daughter Khun Ploypailin
Jensen to perform at the concert.
Flags and Other Decorations
There will be an appropriate decoration of flags, lights, and Royal Emblems at all official government offices and
institutions throughout the kingdom. It is required that all decorations conform to the laws and regulations concerning
proper display of these decorations. Private houses and all establishments are invited to display appropriate and
legal decorations.
Ceremonies and Entertainment
In metropolitan Bangkok, all ceremonies and entertainment will be held at Phra Mane Ground on December 5, 1999.
Outside Bangkok, all ceremonies and entertainment will be supervised by the College of Arts and Ratchabhat Institutes
nearby, and will conform to local cultures and traditions as appropriately and respectfully paying homage to His
Majesty the King.
